Gardening Resources
Ohioline: Gardening information from OSU Extension. Checkout the fact sheets on growing specific fruits and vegetables, amending soil, trellising, pruning, food preservation and many other topics.
Growing Franklin: Virtual garden classes, a local planting calendar and newsletter articles especially related to the Franklin County growing community.
Growing to Green: Initiated in March 2000 at Franklin Park Conservatory, the Growing to Green program assisted in the start-up or renovation of more than 300 local community gardens. Check out the resources for community gardening and city beautification.
Backyard Garden Guide: Tips on creating a garden plan, installing a raised bed and favorite crops.
Wheatland Farm: Located just blocks away at 116 N. Wheatland Ave., Wheatland Farm is a former hospital site. The one-acre property has been repurposed to grow food through a large-scale raised bed growing system and a greenhouse for seed starting. Please follow Mid-Ohio Food Collective for future plans at Wheatland Farm.

Hilltop Resource Guide: A directory of food, housing, health & human services, emergency services, education, family & youth, arts, events, refugee/immigrant, faith groups, business, education, government and more.
Hilltop Branch of the Columbus Public Library: The library on Hague is currently being remodeled and expanded to 32,000 feet. It is scheduled to reopen in 2021. A temporary location is open at 3658 Soldano Blvd.
Highland Elementary School: Located at 40 S. Highland, this elementary school serves grades K-5 and many of the 350 students participate in programming at Highland Youth Garden.
Educational Academy for Boys and Girls: Located at 35 Midland, the school
Envision Hilltop: A community plan for the Hilltop’s future.
J Ashburn Center: Located at 85 Clarendon Ave., the center offers homework help, after-school activities and summer programs.
Holton Community Center: After-school activities and meals at this community center at 303 N. Eureka Ave.
Glenwood Community Center: Located at 1888 Fairmont Ave., this center provides virtual learning support, after-school meals and sports programs.
