The Family Garden Project
Each year, we offer 10 families that live in in the Hilltop area a full raised garden bed kit that includes everything needed to grow an edible garden in their backyard. Families are connected with a garden mentor that works together with families to get the most out of their garden.

How can I sign up to receive a garden? Who can apply?
Anyone who lives in the Hilltop area with children can apply, teens living in the Hilltop can also apply and receive a garden with parent permission. Add your name to the waitlist and we’ll reach out with an application in the spring!
Does it cost anything to sign up?
Nope! All programming with Highland Youth Garden is completely free.
If my application is accepted, when will my garden be installed?
Your garden will be installed in the spring at a time that is best for your schedule. Our team of expert gardeners and staff will install your garden with you and walk you through some of the basic care & keeping instructions for each plant.
What kind of plants and seeds will I get?
You’ll receive plants appropriate for that season. Typically in the late spring we are planting tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, greens, radishes, peppers, and more! If you have requests for specific plants, you’ll be able to specify in your application.
