There are a variety of ways to get involved at the Highland Youth Garden! Check out the volunteer opportunities and sign up below.

garden cooking and nutrition

In this youth-led adventure, share your meal planning and cooking skills with children while helping to prepare garden-fresh snacks for classes and assisting with recipe creation based on seasonal produce. Help cook for neighborhood celebrations and teach cooking skills to our youth.

garden education

As a garden educator volunteer, you will assist other volunteers with elementary age children in the garden who are engaged in outdoor classroom and gardening activities. Help children from two nearby elementary schools with gardening activities that may include planning, planting, maintaining, and harvesting produce by using your teaching and gardening skills. Science, math, reading, writing, and other skill areas are incorporated.

general garden help

Being a gardening helper volunteer is a wonderful way to learn and improve your gardening skills. In addition, you will be assisting in the agricultural education of children and contributing your knowledge and love for gardening to the next generation. The children can use your help. Come and get your hands dirty with us!

general garden lead

In this leadership volunteer position, you will help plan the garden and organize gardening chores. In addition, you will help organize work for the gardeners of all ages who come to work in the Highland Youth Garden. This volunteer position will have you rubbing elbows with other gardening leaders who share your passion for people and your love of gardening.

Fresh food bag

We distribute free produce to our neighbors on Wednesdays from 5-7 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM - 12 PM through the growing season. Help is needed to harvest the produce prior to each market and to staff the distribution table.

social media

You can share your social media skills by helping to get word out about the great things happening at Highland Youth Garden. Engaging the children to assist you in this effort is an added bonus.

volunteer recruitment

You can share your volunteer recruitment, retention, and office skills by helping to grow a strong volunteer program at Highland Youth Garden. Your help is needed to recruit and organize volunteers for the garden.

fundraising

Search for funding opportunities, help write grants, and solicit in-kind donations from local organizations.
